Highlighting Black-owned product brands and suppliers during Black History Month

February 9, 2022

During Black History Month, we are excited to highlight several certified, Black-owned product brands and suppliers that partner with Ship2Me, a 3rd-party marketplace developed and managed by Peapod Digital Labs to support the brands of Ahold Delhaize USA.

As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting and uplifting minority-owned businesses, all the brands highlighted are certified by the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC), which plays a crucial role in advancing procurement opportunities between diverse-owned businesses and corporations.

From hot fudge to hair care and everything in between, we’re thrilled to introduce you to amazing Black-owned brands to add to your cart the next time you’re shopping, including:

Baldwin Richardson Foods. Baldwin Richardson Foods is one of the largest Black family-owned businesses in the food industry and includes recognizable products like Nance’s Mustards & Condiments and Mrs. Richardson’s Toppings. Today led by Cara Hughes, 40, and Erin Tolefree, 41, third-generation businesswomen, their products are available online at many of the brands of Ahold Delhaize USA.

Founded in 2003, Alaffia continues to redefine the natural products industry through its values of Beauty, Equality and Empowerment, fair trade, and safe, efficacious hair, face and body care. With methods and ideals that are rooted in ancient African traditions, Alaffia boasts ECOCERT’s fair trade product certification, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) certification, and is Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) certified as a minority-owned, managed and controlled business.

Launched in 2014 by Bea Dixon, Honey Pot offers plant-based feminine care that is safe for skin, cruelty free, hypoallergenic, and gynecologist-approved. Though the company initially offered body wash, their product line has expanded to include lubricants, an incontinence line, organic feminine products, and bath bombs.

We’re particularly excited about Black-owned brand ECOS because we get to hear from their CEO, Kelly Vlahakis-Hanks later this month as part of our internal Black History Month events for employees. ECOS offers plant-powered, non-toxic products that are and safer for you, your home, and the planet.

And finally, we usually highlight the pets of our employees on Fridays, so we’re thrilled to also highlight an amazing pet brand, Nava Pets, owned by Janel Young. Nava Pets provides pet-friendly health and wellness products that are safe, unrefined, and gentle to use.

Employees and followers can purchase these brands and products through Ship2Me, a 3rd-party marketplace developed and managed by Peapod Digital Labs to support the brands of Ahold Delhaize USA.
