Emma Castañeda named to Progressive Grocer’s Top Women in Grocery

June 23, 2020

Emma Castañeda, Senior Director of User Experience, has been named to Progressive Grocer’s 2020 Picture of Emma smilingTop Women in Grocery list, a recognition that celebrates women leaders who demonstrate outstanding leadership capabilities and honorable achievements in the grocery retail industry.

Responsible for leading the creation of a best-in-class user experience within the digital ecosystem of Ahold Delhaize US, Emma was recognized for making a difference in the grocery industry this year by leading innovative company initiatives, executing strategic objectives and helping others reach their own success. She takes an overarching look at all the digital products, spotting connections between current projects and those in the longer-term roadmap. Working from a position of great empathy with the end users, she looks to find ways to guide a smooth, sustained evolution in the user experience through various user-centered methodologies.

“Emma has elevated her XD team from being the experts on fonts and colors, to the experts on what the customer wants, and what constitutes a connected, delightful experience for the customer,” explains Keith Nicks, Ecommerce Officer for Peapod Digital Labs. “She is a core strategic leader in our journey to deliver the customer a seamless omnichannel experience and I am proud of the contribution she delivers every day.”

When asked about the award, Emma explained, “I'm incredibly humbled to receive this recognition and appreciate having support from an organization that believes in putting the customer at the center of what we do. But any personal success I have is directly linked to working with a passionate team, and I'm thrilled to represent all of us with this achievement.”

“Our commitment to make impactful change is not just a personal philosophy but one that our entire team lives by in our everyday actions,” she added. “I'm proud to work within an organization that fosters that environment."

Emma will be recognized in the June issue of Progressive Grocer, which you can view here. This special edition showcases the overall excellence and continued accomplishments of women in the industry.
